Intent
The intent of our PE curriculum at St Peter's is to provide all children with high quality PE and sport provision. It is our vision for every pupil will succeed and achieve to their fullest potential as well as inspiring them to lead physically active lifestyles now, and for the rest of their lives.
At St Peter's, we use 'Twinkl Move' to support our learning in both key stage 1 and 2.
Implementation
With these aims in mind, first and foremost, we implemented discreet lessons for reading into year groups from 2 - 6 (for Year 1: Phonics). This ensures that reading objectives are explicitly taught every day and that every child have quality reading time with the teacher. Vulnerable groups are highlighted and teaching assistant are used to support these groups further to ensure progression and specific year group skills are secure. Resources are used to support and enhance these lessons to make certain that all staff feel proficient and skilled in delivering high quality lessons.
School Sports Premium Funding
The Government provides each primary school throughout England with additional funding which is to be spent on improving the sports provision within schools. At St Peter's we believe a high quality PE curriculum should be an integral part of the whole school curriculum and one that staff, pupils and parents understand and can contribute to. Our school recognises the values that a high quality PE and school sport curriculum gives pupils.
The Impact of our PE teaching and learning can be seen in the work below
Our high quality PE and sports provision ensures that all children are given the opportunity to experience many different types of physical activities. They are able to partake in individual and team activities, enabling them to transfer these skills into the classroom and beyond. Children's well-being and inter-personal skills will have been developed through their PE lessons.
